Health & Safety Policy.

Safety is the founding value of VB Engineering. Our Chairman's promise — "We Believe in Keeping You Safer" — is the standard by which every engagement is delivered. This Policy sets our commitment across every VB office, every client site, and every deliverable.

Effective: 1 July 2026 · Version: 1.0 · Aligned with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems) principles.

01Our commitment.

VB Engineering is committed to protecting the health and safety of every employee, contractor, client engineer, and third party who works with us or is affected by our activities. Safety is not a compliance overhead — it is the reason our practice exists. Arc flash safety, HAZOP, QRA, LOPA, SIL, and functional safety are the disciplines our clients hire us to deliver. We hold ourselves to the same standard we ask them to meet.

02Policy statement.

  • VB will provide a safe workplace at every VB office and a safe visiting protocol on every client site.
  • VB will comply with all applicable occupational-safety laws in every jurisdiction where we operate.
  • VB will apply the same NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, IEC 61511, OSHA 1910, ADNOC PSE, Aramco SAES, AS/NZS 4836, and IS 3043 standards to our own personnel that we apply in our client deliverables.
  • VB will provide personal protective equipment (PPE) — arc-rated coveralls, hard hats, safety glasses, gas monitors, fall-protection where relevant — for every field engagement.
  • VB will conduct pre-mobilisation safety briefings on every site engagement.
  • VB will maintain incident reporting, near-miss reporting, and lessons-learned discipline in a written safety management system.
  • VB will engage no site work that violates client-site permit-to-work systems.
  • VB will empower any employee to stop work at any time on any safety concern, without penalty.

03Applicable standards.

Our safety management system aligns with the principles of ISO 45001:2018 and integrates the standards our clients rely on:

  • Electrical safety · NFPA 70E (US), IEEE 1584 (arc flash calculation), IS 3043 (India earthing), AS/NZS 4836 (Australia), BS 7671 (UK), Aramco SAES-E-005 (KSA), ADNOC SAES (UAE), Qatar Energy ELE.
  • Process safety · IEC 61511 (functional safety instrumented systems), IEC 61508 (functional safety of E/E/PE safety-related systems), IEC 61882 (HAZOP guide).
  • Occupational safety · OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (US), UK HSE Approved Codes of Practice, PESO & DGFASLI (India), Ministry of Human Resources KSA.
  • Environmental & hazard-area classification · IEC 60079, API RP 500, BIS 5572 (India), NEC Article 500 & Article 505 (US Class/Zone systems).

04Chartered Engineer discipline.

Every VB safety-critical deliverable is signed by a Chartered Engineer (CEng MIE, FIE, or equivalent) with proven competence in the specific discipline. This is not a marketing statement — it is the accountability that our practice model rests on. The Chartered signature carries personal professional-body accountability under the Institution of Engineers (India), the Institution of Engineering & Technology (UK), NCEES (US), Engineers Australia, and equivalents.

05Two-sign discipline.

Every deliverable is independently reviewed by a Principal Reviewer before being signed by the Practice Lead. No single-person deliverable leaves VB. This two-sign discipline is our internal check on both technical accuracy and safety.

06Right to refuse or stop.

Every VB engineer, at every level, has the right and duty to refuse or stop work that they believe is unsafe. No performance penalty, career penalty, or contract penalty shall be imposed on any VB engineer who exercises this right in good faith. This right applies whether the risk is to the engineer, to a client-site worker, or to a third party.

07Reporting and continuous improvement.

Near-misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions are reported through the VB safety management system. Lessons learned are extracted, documented, and integrated into training and procedure updates. We conduct annual internal safety audits and are subject to client-driven audits on their sites.

08Contact and reporting.

Safety concerns, incident reports, or requests for our safety documentation may be submitted to [email protected]. Concerns are addressed within one (1) business day.
