Which plants can book the free field check?
The free field check is open to process sites where the drawings carry statutory weight, in four states, at four checks a month. Each check is booked first come, first served, and each plant can book one.
| Condition | Your site qualifies if |
|---|---|
| Plant | It is a major accident hazard (MAH) unit, or a factory with 100 or more workers, or a site licensed under revised Schedule M or by PESO |
| Location | It is in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat or Maharashtra |
| Capacity | One of this month’s four checks is still open. If the month is full, you are offered the first date next month |
Outside these limits? Our P&ID drafting and updation team can still walk and correct your drawings as a regular job. The free check is not offered where VB Engineering is the plant’s statutory safety auditor.
When should a plant book the field check?
Book the check before anyone outside the plant relies on your drawings: an auditor, an inspector, a HAZOP team or a licensing authority.

What do you get from the free field check?
You get a discrepancy log for five sheets: every difference between the drawing and the plant, marked and located, which you keep whether or not you work with us.

- Discrepancy log for five sheets: line, valve, instrument and equipment differences, each marked and located
- Marked-up PDFs of the five sheets, with every difference clouded in red
- A 30-minute review call with the engineer who walked the sheets
- A written scope and plan for the full set, if you ask for one
The check does not redraw the sheets and is not a HAZOP or a statutory audit report. It shows you where your drawings stand.
Can your P&IDs be trusted before an audit or HAZOP?
Five yes-or-no questions tell you whether your P&ID set is controlled, partly out of date or unverified, and the first thing to fix. Your answers stay in your browser until you choose to book.
1. Have your P&IDs been revised since the last plant modification?
2. Is every change made under management of change closed with a drawing update?
3. Was your last HAZOP run on drawings that had been checked on site?
4. Do your line list and equipment list match the P&IDs?
5. Could you hand an auditor the current P&IDs today?
Answer all five to see your result.
How does the free field check run?
The check runs in four steps: you book and choose five sheets, an engineer confirms the date, the sheets are walked on site, and the log is issued with a review call.

Discrepancy log and marked-up PDFs, then a 30-minute call.A drawing nobody has walked is an assumption. Five sheets checked on site tell you whether the rest of the set can be relied on, before an audit or a HAZOP finds out for you.
What does a discrepancy log look like?
A discrepancy log lists every place where a sheet and the plant disagree, so your team can see in one page how far the drawings have drifted.
Each entry carries the sheet number, the location on the sheet, what the drawing shows, what the plant has and a photo reference. The marked-up sheet beside it clouds the same difference in red, so the log and the drawing can be read together.

Want the same log for five of your sheets?
Free field check: questions plants ask
Is the field check really free?
Yes. There is no fee and no obligation to buy anything afterwards. You keep the discrepancy log. The offer is limited to four checks a month so that each one gets an engineer on site.
What do we have to provide?
The five current sheets as PDF or paper, an escort with access to the areas they cover, the site work permit and a contact for the review call. An NDA can be signed before the visit.
Which five sheets should we choose?
Choose the sheets for areas that have changed most since the drawings were made, or the sheets your next audit or HAZOP will use. A mix of old and recently revised sheets gives the clearest view of the whole set.
Who sees our drawings?
Only the engineers on your check. Your drawings and the log stay with you and are not reused, and an NDA covers them on request.
What happens after the check?
You receive the log and the marked-up sheets, followed by a 30-minute call. If you want the full set corrected, we send a written scope and plan. If not, the log is yours to use as it is.
Why is the check limited to four states and these sites?
The check needs an engineer at your plant, so for now it is offered in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra, to sites whose drawings carry statutory weight. Outside these limits, write to us and we will tell you what is possible.
